**About DataBrain** DataBrain is an AI-powered embedded analytics platform that helps modern software companies ship powerful in-product analytics, dashboards, and reporting in days instead of months. We work with SaaS teams from fast-growing startups to global enterprises, helping them unlock new revenue and improve customer experience with world-class analytics. **About the role** We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help shape the core product platform. You’ll own high-impact features end to end, make key technical decisions across the stack, and raise the bar on architecture, performance, and engineering quality as we scale. **What you’ll do** - Own end-to-end delivery of complex product features across the stack, from React/TypeScript frontend to Python/FastAPI backend. - Design and evolve backend APIs, data models, and system architecture that power dashboard builders, charting interfaces, embedded widgets, and configuration flows. - Lead implementation of high-quality, responsive UI for data-heavy product surfaces, including tables, filters, drag-and-drop, charting, and editor experiences. - Improve performance, reliability, and scalability across the stack, including data fetching, caching, error handling, and production observability. - Partner closely with the founders and platform team to shape the technical roadmap and translate customer needs into durable product capabilities. - Define and maintain reusable component patterns, clean API contracts, and engineering standards that help the team move quickly without sacrificing quality. - Mentor other engineers, review code thoughtfully, and help raise overall engineering standards across the team. **What we’re looking for** - 5-8 years of experience building web applications in a product company. - Strong proficiency in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript, plus deep experience with a backend language (ideally Python) and REST APIs. - Proven ability to design and ship complex, data-heavy product experiences across frontend and backend. - Strong understanding of databases and data modeling; experience with analytical databases like ClickHouse is a plus. - Track record of improving performance, debugging production issues, and applying solid engineering practices (testing, monitoring, logging). - High ownership and product mindset: you care about UX details, edge cases, tradeoffs, and shipping features that solve real customer problems. - Comfortable making architectural decisions, breaking down ambiguous problems, and driving work independently in a fast-moving startup environment. **Nice to have** - Hands-on experience with Python/FastAPI in production. - Experience with charting/visualization libraries and analytics or BI products. - Prior startup experience or working closely with designers, founders, and customers. - Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives across a small team. **How we work** - Location: Chennai (preferred), with overlap to IST working hours. - Small, senior team with high ownership and direct collaboration with the founders. - Opportunity to influence architecture, product direction, and early culture while working across the stack.

Paste this version instead: About DataBrain DataBrain is an AI-powered embedded analytics platform that helps modern software companies ship powerful in-product analytics, dashboards, and reporting in days instead of months. We work with SaaS teams from fast-growing startups to global enterprises, helping them unlock new revenue and improve customer experience with world-class analytics. What you’ll do - Design and build core platform services that power DataBrain’s embedded analytics engine (query execution, caching, permissions, multi-tenant infra). - Own end-to-end backend features: schema and API design, implementation, testing, observability, and rollout. - Work closely with the founders and product to shape the technical roadmap and translate customer needs into robust platform capabilities. - Improve performance and reliability across the stack: query latency, cost efficiency, data freshness, and SLAs. - Establish and evolve engineering best practices: code quality, security, monitoring, on-call, and incident response. - Collaborate with frontend engineers to design clean contracts between APIs and UI, and deliver a great developer experience for our customers’ teams. What we’re looking for - 3–7 years of experience as a backend / platform / infrastructure engineer in a product company. - Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or Node.js (we are flexible on language if your fundamentals are solid). - Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), containers (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes or equivalents). - Solid understanding of relational databases and data modeling; exposure to analytical databases (e.g., ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) is a strong plus. - Experience designing and maintaining production APIs (REST and/or GraphQL), authentication/authorization, and multi-tenant systems. - Comfort with performance tuning, debugging distributed systems, and working with observability tools (logs, metrics, traces). - Bias for shipping, ownership mindset, and comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment. Nice to have - Experience building analytics, BI, or data platform products. - Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Kinesis) and data pipelines. - Prior startup experience or working closely with product and customers. How we work - Location: Chennai (preferred), with overlap to IST working hours. - Small, senior team with high ownership and direct collaboration with the founders. - Opportunity to influence architecture, product direction, and early culture.
