### About LightHearted AI LightHearted AI is a **VC-backed precision cardiology startup** on a mission to **prevent 10 million heart-related deaths by 2030**. We combine **photonics and AI** to build non-invasive diagnostic technology that detects heart conditions faster, more accurately, and more affordably. We work closely with researchers from the **University of Glasgow**, **Harvard**, and **MIT**, and are part of **MedTech Innovator** and the **AI Pioneer Launch Programme**. Our team is distributed across **London, New York, and Bengaluru**. * * * ### Role Overview We're looking for a **Fullstack Software Engineer** who enjoys **owning features end-to-end** — from database schema to pixel-perfect UI. You'll build the software layer that connects our **diagnostic hardware to clinicians and patients**, working across mobile apps, desktop tools, backend services, and device interfaces. This role suits a **generalist who thrives in early-stage chaos**, cares deeply about **product quality**, and gets excited about working at the **intersection of software, hardware, and healthcare**. If you've ever wondered how a photon becomes a clinical insight, you'll like it here. * * * ### What You'll Do - Build and ship **cross-platform mobile and desktop applications using Flutter** - Design and develop **backend services and APIs using Python (FastAPI) and Node.js** - **Deploy, serve, and monitor AI/ML models** in production — handling inference pipelines, model versioning, and performance optimization - Set up and maintain **data pipelines** for ingesting, processing, and storing sensor and diagnostic data - Own **DevOps workflows**: CI/CD, containerization (Docker), cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and deployment automation - Architect **data flows** between frontend apps, backend services, AI models, and device-side software - Build **internal tools and device interfaces** (GUI or CLI) for hardware and research teams - Collaborate with product and design to shape **clinical and patient-facing user experiences** - Work alongside hardware, firmware, and data teams to **integrate software with physical diagnostic systems** - Write **clean, well-documented, testable, and compliance-ready code** - Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making - Debug, optimize, and improve performance across the full stack * * * ### Must Have - **~2–4 years of professional fullstack development experience** - **Cross-platform UI framework experience** (Flutter, React Native, or similar) - **Backend experience with Python and/or Node.js** - Strong fundamentals in **REST APIs, databases, and data flow design** - Working knowledge of **Git, CI/CD, Docker**, and at least one **cloud provider** - Comfort in a **fast-paced, remote-first startup environment** - **Product mindset** and attention to UX * * * ### Good to Have - Hands-on **Flutter and FastAPI** experience - **Deploying and serving AI/ML models** in production - Building **data pipelines** (Airflow, Prefect, Kafka, or similar) - **Kubernetes or infrastructure-as-code** (Terraform) - Exposure to **embedded systems, firmware, or hardware-integrated software** - Prior work in **medtech, healthcare, or regulated environments** (HIPAA, ISO 13485, IEC 62304) - **Life sciences or deep-tech background** — degree or serious interest in biology, physics, photonics, or biomedical engineering - **Genuine curiosity** — reads papers for fun, asks "why" more than "how," and gets pulled into rabbit holes * * * ### What We Offer - Opportunity to work on **impactful healthcare technology** with real-world outcomes - **High ownership and responsibility** from day one - Collaboration with **global research and engineering teams** - **Flexible, remote-first** work culture - **Fast learning curve** across software, hardware, and AI systems * * * ### Diversity & Inclusion We welcome applicants from **all backgrounds** and strongly encourage **women and underrepresented talent in STEM and healthcare** to apply.
