At Nexera, we are building a natural language powered research platform for professional traders to find answers to their questions, backtest and automate their strategies. We are looking for a strong and talented Software Engineer to join our Founding Team.

Summary

As our Founding Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping our technology stack, engineering culture, and product architecture. This role requires a highly capable backend engineer who is comfortable with ambiguity, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited about wearing multiple hats—ranging from writing code to managing the tech team and even attracting talent.

What You’ll Do

• Own and build resilient, high-performance backend servers and APIs, ensuring scalability and fault tolerance (not necessarily microservices).
• Work with large tick-by-tick datasets to power our platform, requiring strong architectural decisions and optimizations.
• Design and optimize both SQL and No SQL databases, implementing effective caching strategies for performance.
• Take full ownership of projects with minimal oversight—driving technical decisions and delivering impact quickly.
• Collaborate across functions, working closely with product, frontend, and devops while also engaging with customers when needed.
• Set the bar for future engineers, defining best practices and contributing to the company’s engineering culture.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in backend development, building clean, high-performance, and resilient systems.
• Strong proficiency in Go, C++, or Rust for backend development.
• Deep experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure, and deployment strategies.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms, with the ability to solve complex technical problems efficiently.
• Quick learner who thrives in an unstructured, high-ownership environment and is comfortable switching between different roles as needed.
